Real Bride, Cerian

Back in the summer I had the pleasure of doing Cerians make-up for her big day as well as her bridesmaids and Mum... Here are a few images from the day. Cerian wanted emphasis on the eyes with a neutral lip and fresh, glowing skin.

Real Bride, Laura

I've just received these gorgeous images of Lauras wedding morning, photographed by Maria Farrelly. I spent the morning in Cowbridge getting Laura, her bridesmaids and her Mum ready for the big day. Laura and the girls wanted glowing skin and a natural, classic bridal make-up. I love Lauras wedding dress from Stephanie Allin Bridal, stunning! x

Natural Bridal Make-Up

Last post covering a recent photoshoot for a bridal house in Swansea. This make-up look is natural and a classic look for a bride, particularly someone who wears no or minimal make-up.

Key points for this look:

Light base colour correcting any blemishes.

Emphasized the natural brow with brow gel.

Enhanced eyes with individual lashes and a light brown shadow.

Please get in touch if you'd like to book wedding make-up or make-up for a special occasion.

Vintage Wedding Make-Up Before & After

'Vintage' is very popular for weddings, whether its a vintage dress, accessory or make-up.

Its great to be able to take different influences from each decade and adapt them to suit each client and event. Be it a 1940's soft coral lip and small flick eyeliner or 1950's bold red lip with a strong black flick and extended lashes, a personal favourite is the 1920's, a soft smokey eye and deep plum lip.

I recently did a photo shoot for a bridal collection and have some behind the scenes images and steps involved in achieving an adapted 1920's look, enjoy x

Strong Bridal Make-Up Before and After

I often get asked for something a a little bolder than the natural bridal make-up look, if you want to add some glamour to your wedding day, or usually wear strong make-up daily then this is the look for you.

This look is all about the eyes using natural browns, golds and a feline flick as well as layers of individual lashes.

Here are a few steps involved in getting this gorgeous look, and a before and after shot.

Key Products used: Avene Moisturiser, Smashbox Photofinish Primer, MAC Paintpot to prime the eye, Lorac MegaPro Eyeshadow pallette, MAC Pigment in Tan, MAC Face & Body Foundation, Illamasqua Lipstick in Starkers.

If you'd like to discuss bridal, prom or special occasion make-up please get in touch.

Behind The Scenes for WM Magazine

Last week's work included shooting with Justin Harris, Brian Brown and Jasmine from Vanilla Rooms Cardiff for WM Magazine's Spring edition. The model was the gorgeous Lara from Alpha Agency

Here are a few behind the scenes shots, I'm looking forward to seeing them in print

Bridal Make-Up Trial Swansea

Here are a few snaps from a trial earlier today with gorgeous bride-to-be, Sophie.

Sophie wanted lots of lashes, which we achieved by building individual lashes so that they still looked very natural with a soft flick, some natural contouring with flawless skin and a pink/nude lip.

5 Steps to the perfect pout.

1. Prep your lips with a lip scrub, I absolutely love this bubblegum lip scrub from Lush, it smells and tastes divine, after scrubbing away any dead skin you can lick away the remaining sugar.

2. Moisturise your lips, vaseline works well or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, do this before you apply eye make-up or foundation so you can give it a while to work its magic and soften up your lips. Once you have finished the rest of your make-up, remover any excess before continuing.

3. Okay, this is the magic bit, especially if you have small lips like me. Apply a thin layer of 'Sexy Mother Pucker' from Soap & Glory. When applied to the lips it gives a little tingling sensation and sends blood to the lips and plumping them out, Give it a minute or two, you can really feel it working then remove any excess, leaving a little amount on the lips.

4. Apply a lip liner. Depending on the colour lips you want, from nude to bright pink I would always say to use a lip liner, there are so many colours available you can't go wrong. It enhances a nude lip giving more definition and shape and will hold a stronger colour in place and stop any bleeding outside your lip line. For an easier application, try warming the pencil on the back of your hand before drawing on your liner as it will glide on a lot easier, particularly on cold winter mornings.

5. Lipstick. Lipsticks come in all forms of finish from matt through to a high shine frost, a popular every day finish would be satin adding a little bit of moisture to your lips. For an edgy, dramatic look try a matt lipstick in a deep plum or red, if you do want a matt look then you will ned to remove all of the lip plumper after step 3. Whether its for work or a night out, I would recommend getting a highly pigmented lipstick, it will last longer and have a truer reflection of the colour your aiming for.

Styled shoot @ Hensol Castle with Cwtch The Bride

A few months ago I had the pleasure of being involved in a Vanity Fair styled photo shoot with top welsh wedding blog Cwtch The Bride. They had a wonderful idea, to use real local brides to model a collection of Two Birds bridesmaids dresses as well as Mooshki vintage dresses, all set in the idyllic location of Hensol Castle. The shoot showcased some of the best wedding suppliers across South Wales, including amazing hair styling by Yume, Cardiff as well as beautiful dresses, headpieces, flowers and wedding props.

Here are some of my favourite images from behind the scenes, more pictures can be seen on my facebook page and bridal portfolio.... enjoy! X

Before and After Bridal Make-Up

Firstly I need to thank Georgia for allowing me to put up a before and after picture of her getting ready for her wedding day.

Georg wanted a natural look, but with a brown smokey look to her eyes and neutral lip.

These are a few images showing some of the steps involved in doing the make-up for her big day. Sadly I don't have any to show you of her foundation or skin work but you get the idea, I hope you enjoy! If you'd like to know more about bridal make-up please email me for information.

I’m over the moon that these images have been published in Flawless Magazine. We shot this a few weeks back in Miskin Manor, just outside of Cardiff. We had planned on shooting a lot more outside as the grounds there are absolutely gorgeous, however in true British form the weather was against us and rained, heavily! We managed a break in the clouds for a few images outside, but the shots we managed to get inside have turned out better than we could have hoped.

For the make-up I took inspiration from Ginger Rogers, Audrey Hepburn and of course, Marilyn Monroe, lots of lashes, a small 50’s flick liner and deep socket contouring, and for the lips I used MAC lipliner in Currant, and lipstick Hang Up
