Real Bride, Laura

I've just received these gorgeous images of Lauras wedding morning, photographed by Maria Farrelly. I spent the morning in Cowbridge getting Laura, her bridesmaids and her Mum ready for the big day. Laura and the girls wanted glowing skin and a natural, classic bridal make-up. I love Lauras wedding dress from Stephanie Allin Bridal, stunning! x

Studio & Beach shoot

I've just received these gorgeous images from an amazing photographer, Morgan Ellis Williams.

The brief was soft romance, I kept the skin clean and glowing using Illamasqua skin base and highlighted using MAC cosmetics strobe cream and touched up with their mineralize skin finish powder. I defined the eyes concentrating on the brows rather than layers of mascara and added a bitten lip look using a mix of vaseline tinted lip balm and a deep plum lipstick by Gerrard cosmetics.

Better late than never...

Here are the Fall images from the WM photo shoot. I used deep red lips for autumn and also a strong smokey eye and played around with a fun 60's pink lip for some of the looks.

My favourite part of the make-up was the eye, I used a deep plum pigment from Illamasqua on the bottom lash line for added interest and layered the top with tattoo eyes by Maybeline and shadow from my Lorac Prop Palette.

I'm back blogging after a few weeks away, I'm now somebodies Mrs and life has finally calmed down after our wonderful wedding. I've been really busy with weddings, proms and graduations but wanted to share with you some of my favourite images from this quarters WM Magazine shoot. I love the subtle highlight and bold colours. Perfect for the sunshine.

I had the pleasure of doing Lisa's wedding make-up as well as her two bridesmaids at Oxwich Bay Hotel, Swansea. Here are some of the pics from the day x

Here are a few snaps from Jenna Loves Photography of Elins big day.

I did the make-up for Elin, her bridesmaid, sister-in-law and Mum... They all wanted a very natural look which would also last all day. The sun was shining and one of the first days of 2015 that really felt like Summer x

Spring Issue of WM Magazine

This quarters issue of WM Magazine has just been released, here are the images showcasing some gorgeous clothes in soft pastels of blues, pinks and greens.
The make-up was soft and natural. Skin was kept fresh with a good base of moisturiser with minimal foundation and concealer where needed. Lara has the most gorgeous blue eyes so I used a small amount of brown liner to make them pop and finished with a muted pastel pink lip to blend with the delicate clothing.

Couture Bridal Wear Shoot

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing the make-up for a new look book for E&W Bridal Couture, shot in Cardiff by Oliver of OJ Creative. The collection, designed by Sophie is a range of bridal separates and dresses which are absolutely gorgeous and really unique. The make-up was very simple with glowing, highlighted skin, a flush of mauve eyeshadow and neutral lips.

Natural Bridal Make-Up

Last post covering a recent photoshoot for a bridal house in Swansea. This make-up look is natural and a classic look for a bride, particularly someone who wears no or minimal make-up.

Key points for this look:

Light base colour correcting any blemishes.

Emphasized the natural brow with brow gel.

Enhanced eyes with individual lashes and a light brown shadow.

Please get in touch if you'd like to book wedding make-up or make-up for a special occasion.

Vintage Wedding Make-Up Before & After

'Vintage' is very popular for weddings, whether its a vintage dress, accessory or make-up.

Its great to be able to take different influences from each decade and adapt them to suit each client and event. Be it a 1940's soft coral lip and small flick eyeliner or 1950's bold red lip with a strong black flick and extended lashes, a personal favourite is the 1920's, a soft smokey eye and deep plum lip.

I recently did a photo shoot for a bridal collection and have some behind the scenes images and steps involved in achieving an adapted 1920's look, enjoy x

(The third image has been edited for publication, but every other image is unedited)

Strong Bridal Make-Up Before and After

I often get asked for something a a little bolder than the natural bridal make-up look, if you want to add some glamour to your wedding day, or usually wear strong make-up daily then this is the look for you.

This look is all about the eyes using natural browns, golds and a feline flick as well as layers of individual lashes.

Here are a few steps involved in getting this gorgeous look, and a before and after shot.

Key Products used: Avene Moisturiser, Smashbox Photofinish Primer, MAC Paintpot to prime the eye, Lorac MegaPro Eyeshadow pallette, MAC Pigment in Tan, MAC Face & Body Foundation, Illamasqua Lipstick in Starkers.

If you'd like to discuss bridal, prom or special occasion make-up please get in touch.

Bridal Make-Up Trial Swansea

Here are a few snaps from a trial earlier today with gorgeous bride-to-be, Sophie.

Sophie wanted lots of lashes, which we achieved by building individual lashes so that they still looked very natural with a soft flick, some natural contouring with flawless skin and a pink/nude lip.

5 Foods To Better Skin - With Nutritionist Kirsten Davies

Whenever I tell people I’m a nutritionist they assume that I spend my days helping people to lose weight, and while this is true, it is only a small part. As a nutritionist, body confidence coach and founder of The Food Remedy, I help my clients understand the link between the food they eat and the thoughts they think.

We are all familiar with the saying 'you are what you eat', but do we really understand the full implications of our daily diet?

Once a month the skin replaces itself and the body makes these new cells from the food eaten. What you eat literally becomes YOU. This is great news when it comes to your skin as you can add in more skin friendly foods and boost the nutrients that your skin needs via the food you eat.
There are a number of foods known for their skin friendly nutrients and by adding these to your diet over time, they could help to significantly improve the quality of your skin.

Here are my top 5 foods to help you glow from the inside out.

Butternut Squash
Butternut squash gets its lovely orange colour from a compound called beta carotene, it is a type of antioxidant that actually builds up in the skin, helping to reduce inflammation. The beta carotene also serves to protect the proteins in our skin that keeps it supple, which adds a nice anti-ageing benefit to the mix too. Introducing more of it into your diet will help keep your skin lovely and smooth.

To really enhance the positive effect of butternut squash, combine it with healthy fats. Try butternut squash drizzled with olive oil or topped with feta as this helps the body to absorb the beta carotene.

Garlic contains Sulphur which is known as ‘the face lift nutrient’. It helps strengthens the fibrous strands in our skin, which helps the cells to hold their shape, helping to prevent wrinkles and sagging. Increasing you sulphur intake could help your skin become more resilient to environmental damage caused by free radicals in the atmosphere.

Many studies have also shown that sulphur-rich foods could also improve acne, although no clear link why has been uncovered yet.

brazil nuts.jpg

Brazil nuts
These nuts are packed full of selenium, a powerful antioxidant, which increases the number of infection-fighting white blood cells in the body, strengthening their fighting power. Selenium also wards off opportunistic infections, keeps the muscles in the heart healthy and even helps with acne.

They also contain vitamin E, copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, calcium and iron which are all essential for healthy skin. Brazil nuts also contain a good amount of zinc which reduces ageing skin inflammations and eases dry skin problems like eczema and psoriasis that leaves the skin more vulnerable to wrinkling.

Just four Brazil nuts provides you with the recommended daily amount of selenium.

Tomatoes are rich in both vitamin C and lycopene. Vitamin C helps to keep the skin firm and taut by aiding collagen production while lycopene, the red pigment which gives tomatoes their lovely bright colour, is a carotenoid that helps keep your skin smooth. Research has also found that lycopene may also protect your skin from sunburn! In one study, participants who were exposed to UV light had almost 50 percent less skin reddening after they ate 2 1/2 tablespoons of tomato paste, in addition to their regular diet, for 10 to 12 weeks!

Prawns are an excellent source of high-quality protein, which is great for your skin, if you don't have enough protein in your diet, you could end up with rough skin, wrinkles and/or poor muscle tone. They also contain several important vitamins and minerals that support good skin.
Prawns are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which help to lubricate the skin keeping it soft and supple. They also contain high levels of zinc which is essential for the production of new skin cells.

Zinc is particularly beneficial for acne sufferers because it helps to speed up the rate at which wounds and infections heal. I've had many clients with acne that cleared once they were getting enough zinc in their diet. It also carries the added benefit of helping to even out oil production, whilst the Vitamin E in prawns contains an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.
